Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 Grand Prix, Switch Review
We analyze Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 Grand Prix for Nintendo Switch. Is this sequence better than its predecessor? Does it work well in laptop mode?
Nickelodeon Kart Races 2 Grand Prix it is a much better sequence than the first installment, which is something the developers should be thankful for. And is that Nickelodeon Kart Racers it went through the market at a grade that failed (Metacritic 41 gives it) due to the declining roster of characters, lack of variety in the races, and mechanics that made the experience unpleasant. Many times the games of the big companies in the audiovisual sector sin against trying to sell licenses that are popular in other media without putting much effort into the final product, and this was Nickelodeon ‘s first carding game.
Fortunately, Bamtang took fan criticism seriously and succeeded in Nickelodeon Kart Races 2 Grand Prix. The team of characters is much better than its prequel: from 12 runners we have gone to 30, and now many other programs of the famous TV network are represented, for example Avatar: The Last Airbender, Danny phantom or Invader Zim. Seeing Korra running near the children is an entertaining and interesting experience Rugrats or the Ninja Turtles, or trying to get past SpongeBob or Invader Zim. As well as serving to appeal to our horror, each runner will have its own special statistics and characteristics, so we’ll have to try them all to find the one that best suits our style of play.
But that wasn’t the only improvement Bamtang made: an online multiplayer mode has also been added to enjoy racing or fighting against players from all over the world, a feature that was much requested in the first installment. And the graphics are very beautiful this time around: the characters are perfectly illustrated, from their physical appearance to their animation and self-behavior.
The settings are another crucial feature in any carding game. This time we will have 28 tracks taken directly from the animated series from which they came, and a certain amount of detail and loyalty to their respective series is to be commended. There is no great complexity in the scenarios, but there are many variations that you have to learn to handle all of them with ease if you want to win all the races.
Nickelodeonian theme characterization also extends to what we find. For example my item you prefer the four elements, a kind of explosion that will hit the people around us, taken straight from it Avatar: The Last Airbender. And neither could the celebrity slime, a feature that we will collect along the tracks and help us recharge our special power. Depending on how we configure our character, this will give us extra acceleration, protection against enemy projectiles, etc.
Variety is important so that you do not get bored, therefore there are different modes in the game: Slime Grand Prix, which would be a traditional Grand Prix mode in which we address a series of cups to unlock content; Free race, to practice the situations that get stuck or we like the most; challenges, where we find challenges of all kinds, from making a certain number of pirouettes to lubricating competitors under certain circumstances; the time trial method, if we really want to test our speed; and the Arena, to fight to the death against the rest of the players.
Game mechanics and modes
But the barrage of content doesn’t stop there: to make this a more usable experience, Nickelodeon Kart Races 2 Grand Prix a very interesting mechanic has been included who gives life to the races: the team of bosses, engineers and mechanics. These are secondary characters from various Nickelodeon series, and their effect will be to give us small improvements that will help us better address the races in which we participate. Thanks to this, the team of characters emerges from this series through the roof, as well as providing more interesting and complex gameplay.
However, this game is not without its drawbacks. It is the greatest of all lack of dubbing voice, who turns all runners into a dumb character, even though they move and do a lot of gestures, they don’t say a single word. Given that Nickelodeon owns the copyright to their own series, it’s a mystery that they didn’t bother to take the vocal clips from these to add personality to the game. It’s another problem the music, while not lively and entertaining, comes from the drawings that show us. This makes this game look a bootleg It did not have the necessary copyrights or permissions to include Nickelodeon content other than an official game from the TV network.
Performance is another problem. And is that sometimes when there are a lot of elements on the screen, the races can slow down a bit or jump. This is not a big problem nor does it happen often, but it can be annoying when it does.
Lack of dubbing and music from the series
Unlike the first installment, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 Grand Prix is a very good karting game with which you can have a good time. There is a lot of content in every aspect (trails, tracks, game modes), so the title will terminate those who buy it and it will be a long time before they get bored. While it has its flaws, like the lack of character dubbing, it’s an interesting and fun project that will entertain young children and give a great dose of nostalgia to those who grew up watching Nickelodeon programs.
THE BEST _____
- Lots of characters and tips
- Game mechanics that distinguish this from other carding games
- A large number of game modes that never get bored
- There is no dubbing, the characters are just dumb dolls that move and celebrate in silence
- Soundtrack shows that it has nothing to do with Nickelodeon
- One-off performance issues
It meets the expectations of what makes a good game, has quality and does not create serious flaws, although it lacks elements that can be taken to higher levels.
