Description
Also know as Longfin Batfish, Long-finned Batfish, Pinnate Batfish, Red-faced Batfish, Red-faced Orbic Batfish, Pinnate Spadefish, Red-finned Batfish, Red-rimmed Batfish, Redstripe Batfish, Shaded Batfish.
Found singly or in large schools, under overhangs of steep outer reef slopes.
They feed on algae, jellyfish, and gelatinous zooplankton.
Juveniles dark with orange outline, small juveniles mimic flatworms, and are found around caves, ledges, and mangroves, of sheltered inner reefs.

Batfish have a flattened profile, juvenile batfish are extremely tall finned, but as they grow they become more rounded.
